If you have already changed the power profile settings, I would be inclined to look at the screen saver, hibernation settings, and battery power levels. Windows help will take you there for each (with the possible exception of troubleshooting battery power level issues). Some Acer machines(and many others, for that matter) seem to have frequent problems with the power jack, which can cause the battery issues.
