Hey Just posting this for future reference for other people since I see that you posted over a month ago :) ..
To install the car seat in rear facing I used the latch system. (you can use the latch system if your vehicle has latches..they are tiny metal bars in between the seats)
First of all with this dumb car seat I found out that the latch system was not in the proper place so if you find that yours is not where the diagram shows (in the manual) then you'll have to take off the seat cover and manually put them in their place. Then go ahead and clip onto the latches in the rear facing position. If the car seat is too far forward then inline the seat. If the car seat is still not leaning far enough back to be level with the ground (there should be two level marks on the top/side of the car seat) place a rolled towel (or roll a 2x4 in a rolled towel like i did) then clip onto the latches.
