Well the guru that left the fuse issue dont know what hes talking about that is for towing a vehicle..
all subarus are either a front wheel drive or a all wheel drive
one you would have to have a all wheel drive tranny the rear end and driveshaft you could remove the cv axels but then you loose support of the front suspension you could rigg another from another vehicle but i sould say thats retarded to attempt costly time consumeing why would you want to i guess thats a question i have tranny bad cv axels bad
i dont say you should attempt this yes you can make a awd to a front wheel drive by removing the driveshaft and then you can either leave the rear end or find a donor to swap rear drive hubs and the only reason i would do this is if the rear end is bad and you cant find a rear end
Dude I have been working on cars for a long time and have worked on a lot of subarus. The transmission has a clutch in the rear for the rear driveshaft. If you put a fuse in the fuse holder it will shut off the clutch to the rear driveshaft. Then the transmission will only have power to the front wheels. So basically i said the same thing you said in your post except i didn't insult you. You can make the vehicle front wheel drive only but not rear wheel drive without a lot of work.

There is a fuse holder in the engine compartment. If you install a fuse in it it will make it front wheel drive but not rear wheel drive.
