I now have a machine with no cases. The first one to come off was the front one. The process was as follows: Remove the end plastic bit the cap over the foot. Undo all screws you can get to Unser the end cover (previously removed) there is a single screw with washer holding the front cover. Unscrew this ine. Then it takes a bit of jiggery pokery to separate all the plastic tabs. I used a wide bladed screwdriver and the two halves just split. The front half is then disconnected from the Circuit board and you are nearly there Then lift the machine from the rear casing, again it moght be necessary to jiggle quite a bit. Goog luck.

Thank you for that information. I had been working on and off in my spare time to open a Singer 7444 and felt like I was missing something. Indeed - the last screw with washer was the one you described. I appreciate you sharing your experience.Thank you for that information. Hi, i also need to split the case. My problem is that the foot pedal connection has been pusged into the machine, so i just need to open the case to re-affix the socked in the correct place. Any help would be appreciated. RichHi, i also need to split the case.
