How do you tell if the gear box is bad in a 315218050 table saw
I got the saw jused and have not used it yet. I took the motor out because it was making a lot of noise. I found that when you hold the end of arbor and one finger in the plastic fins on the other side of the gear box. It sounds like the teeth are slipping. so tool the cover off. If someone could tell me how to remove the arbor form the housing it wouuld be a big help. Thanks

Its probably not designed to be stripped and serviced, especially if parts are pressed together. These do not normally have gearboxes so you are trying to service the motor itself. If the motor does not have small panels to allow you to change the motor brushes, it is not meant to be serviced, and you should replace the motor. These saws sell used on ebay for $60.
