How to replace cord to G Frman grill Model GR10AS? Cord was caught in sliding door cutting through rubber covering and severing some of wire. Grill no longer heats. Base was removed to discover access to place where new cord could be attached but seemed to be locked in. (?????) What kind of cord to replace with? and how?

Just cut the mains cord off at the point of damage and install a male mains plug on the shortened lead. Saves a lot of hassle.
