4 #1 Phillips screwa secure the guard. Remove guard.Take off the distance metal guard. Remove the 5 screws around the motor. (No need to remove the 4 screwa holding motor to handle.) Cut Ryobi sticker off. Carefully remove the motor housing. There is a small flat looking stem sticking out of the back of the motor. I held it with a small crescent wrench and unscrewed the head. Its easy to do as you will see.
Yes it can be removed...hold the motor shafts and unscrew the string holder assembly.. take off two small bolts and rectangle lasting motor holder and remove wire nuts... electric motor. Ta da! Now where can u get the motor from?
Once you remove the spool cap and the spool, you cannot remove the head from the motor. It is not a replacement part. Ryobi P2002 Cordless String Trimmer Parts
