If you want to set an mp3 or "Custom" tone for your "Notifications" you can dowload an app or... Connect your X10 to your computer. Pull down the usb notification in top left of screen and mount sd card. Then go into your phone menu via "My Computer" and either go into media/audio/notifications or create the folders yourself. Remember they must be lower case letters. Then all you have to do is copy your tone into the "notifications" folder disconnect your phone from your pc and go into "Settings" "Sound and Display" "Notification ringtone" and it should now be in your list with the preset standard tones.

Hi... as far as i can see... there is no option to make an MP3 a MESSAGE ringtone... u have to pick from what's there on the phone. When you set an MP3 as a ringing ringtone... it appears in the options of selections of ringtones for RINGING. I tried to see if it would also come up for message tones (as following the instructions as given by 'cseian') but no cigar unfortunately. Perhaps there's an application that can help with this?! would be good :((
Hi, just to add to this, looking online have seen apparently the application 'tone picker' solves this problem and allows you to pick any tone for ringtones/message tones etc etc :))
