You should ensure that you installed all drivers needed. Make sure that in Device Manager ( Right click on My Computer, choose Properties, Hardware Tab and then click Device Manager) there are no exclamation marks in yellow triangle. If there are you need to download and install appropriate LAN drivers for your model. Click on this link to go to download page.
If everything is in order you must press Fn key + F2 to turn on/off wireless adapter. Go to Settings->Network Connections-> select your wireless adapter, right click on it and select View Available wireless Networks, like on the picture below.
