How to use sd card with magellan meridian gold
I recently bought a magellan meridian gold gps through ebay. It included a user manual cd but it does not fully explain how to load map data onto the sd card and how to get the gps receiver to read the data on the card. Also I have topo US and Canada maps that I had used on a Magellan Sportrak. Can I reinstall the map programs on a different computer and enter the magellan gold serial number? How do I format the sd card or do I need to? I cannot find any reference to card utilities on the gps menu. The firmware on the gps is 5.4. I cannot find an sd card with less than 1gb. Will a Maxwell 1gb card work? Hope you can help with these problems.

Try to use your computer to format the SD card to FAT. Then the GPS unit may recognize the SD card and then the "Utility" menu will be available on your GPS.(Unit may take a very long time to format 1GB SD card!)
As to the make of the SD card I dont know about the compatibility, also the 1Gb size may exceed the GPS units limit. I am not sure if Magellan addressed this size limit with the V5.40 update.
best of luck to you
