Hp pavilion ze5730us will not boot
My hp pavilion ze5730us will not boot. I fear it may be the motherboard however, I'm hoping that by just resetting bios manually it may resolve the issue but I'm not sure how to do this. I have checked the RAM cards are seated correctly and I'm pretty sure it's not the hard drive because I was able to get it up a few times all the way into windows but its sporatic. Mostly I get no screen, fans, cd rw rom runs, all lights except the hrd dsk light (the 1 with the 3 disks above it). Before all this started I saw a msg on the start up diagnostics that sd the hard drive test was gd but there were errors in BIOS. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have had this thing for over 10 yrs and only upgrded the ram and hrd drive. I love it and I'd like to keep it alive if possible. Thanks. Sincerely, John C.

I am assuming this is a notebook, you are correct in the fact your mainboard is possibly faulty, but if you are able to access the RTC battery (CMOS) then you can take it out to reset the bios to defaults or to access the bios you can press F2 at start-up and use the defaults setup option to see if this gets rid of the warning, if not then you may have to get a local tech to inspect for you.
