At frequent random intervals. the keyboard becomes very slow to respond to keystrokes, with many double characters, which makes the product unintelligible and very difficult to edit. hp have replaced the original keyboard and mouse, which were Rev 1.1, with Rev 2.1, which seemed to work better for a few months, but is now just as bad as the original. Putting in new batteries (1.5v Duracell, but it's not much different with NimH's ) makes no difference.

Is this off line or just online? If just online it is probably a internet connection that is not steady/poor service. or you favorite forums are having Dbase troubles.
If it is on and offline it sounds like system lag. You are either overtaxing a slow comp or are Sypware infected.
1) Use Spybot and Spyware Blaster to help secure your system. Both free.
2) Run your Anti virus and Super Spyware Revover.
3) Schedule boot scans for SSR, Spybot and your Virus scanner.
