I have a Halls HLS5000 holmes humidifer. I bought it 1-2 years ago. I put it in my sons room recently. The 2nd night I used it, it was running for 12 hours. It still had water in it. Luckily my husband was in the room because all of a sudden flames started shooting out of it, almost to the ceiling and he was able to get the kids out of the room and unplug it. I can't even imagine what would have happened if he had not been in there or if it happened during the night when we were all sleeping. The humidifier became very hot to the touch after being unplugged. It is now sitting outside in our garage and I am contacting Holmes.
