I think the problem here is that the cable that's serial/ps2 on one end plugs into the trackball on the other end with a model specific plug that looks sort of what is called a DIN plug in the states (a bit like a PS2 plug). I have no idea where to get a spare and don't think these trackballs have been made for some years
This cable is a serial to PS2. You can buy these on the Internet from cablestogo.com or another cable company. If you cannot find this, or it is too costly, this mouse is being sold on the web for a very reasonable amount.
