I am having problems with the tension adjuster on Kettler favorit on the left arm. Every time I adjust the tension to increase it, the tension grip slips back to the original lower position so I get an uneven workout. Can you advise?

The tension adjusting mechanism in all intensive purposes has worn out and will need to be replaced. Since I don't know where it was purchased either in USA , Canada or the U.K.
