I could not find a link to the manual from the Nakamichi website. Here is a link to the PDF brochure you can look at http://www.nakamichi.com/pdf/ss8_5brochure%20-%20revised.pdf
This system does not appear to have any HDMI outputs. The cd/dvd has component outputs(green, blue, and red) that are outputs that you can hook up to your television for 480P(standard resoloution with progressive scan) or you can use the s-video cable(no progressive scan) or rca jack video output(no prgressive scan). Then there is a left and right audio channel rca jack output if you want the audio to come from the television. So you should use the component output for the best picture from your dvd/cd player and hook those from the output signal on the Nakimichi to the input signal for the television. Then connect your audio output signals(red and white rca jacks) to the audio input jacks on your Nakamichi so the sounds from your television can be played through the Nakamichi. I know it sounds a little complicated so let me know if you have more questions or problems.
