I am replace the alternator on my 1995 LAnd Rovery Discovery. I need to loosen the serpentine belt. How do I do so? Where and how to I work the tensioner? Thanks

I need to see the tensior to tell you for sure, but typically there is either a square hole to insert a 1/2" breaker bar or a nut that you use with a standard socket driver
they also sell a SPECIAL tool that has all the common connectors with an extra long skinny handle
can you post a pic for me and I should be able to tell you exactly!

thanks for the question, but my latest and greatest service manual does not show anything on the belt removal... might be time for a change!!!
while I do no have a discovery in the shop right now I can tell you there are two possible set-ups
I am assuming you have one belt
as such you find the tensionor and push/pull this away from the belt
if you could post a close-up picture of your belt and pulleys I would be able to give you better instructions

If I remember correctly the nut I've circled is a 15mm
and you will push it down to release the belt tension
