I am running windows 7 and when I plug in my transcend it is not picked up and if I continue to plug the usb cable in and out a few times it will then pick it up but gives a message that it needs to be formated. I Once tried to format it but it would also not do that either. Is there any drivers that I can download for the hardware? Thank you. My email address is [email protected]

Hi,
Even though it is possible that your USB hard driveis corrupt, but
before you finally conclude, try out these few troubleshooting
steps.
First of all, it is possible that the USB port that you are using is a
USB 1.0 port, which has a lower voltage not enough to
power on your Storage drive.
In this case, there are two things you can do,
1. Change the USB port you are using for the storage drive to a
USB 2.0 one (Just keep Checking all the ports one by one in case
you dont know which one it is).
2. If your Storage drive has external power facility, just plug it in
an external power first, before connecting it to the system.
If there are no USB 2.0 Ports on your system at all,
then just go to any electronic store and tell them you want to buy
a USB 2.0 Expansion card.
and if it is a laptop, A USB 2.0 PCMCIA card.
Install it on your system, and connect your external drive through it.
Meanwhile, before you try out the second option, test the drive on
a friend's system, that you are sure has a very good system, with
USB 2.0 port.
If after trying out all these, the USB Drive still doesn't work, then
I'm afraid, the drive might have been bad/spoilt.
