I am trying to get a \r\nWIfi network connection
I am trying to get a WIfi network connection. It connects for HTTP but will not connect for FTP. I don't have any firewalls active, to my knowledge. It says to get help from the manufacturer.

Hi,
You will be required to get in touch with your service provider as there are certain ports that needs to be opened.
There are certain ports like UDP 500, 1000 that needs to be opened and can be done via the service provider only.
Firewall block the FTP port.
For that turn off windows and antivirus firewall.
Also make sure in router ftp 21 port is open.
Try with another browser like mozila.
Restore defaults settings of internet explorer then try.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.
Hi.
Both HTTP and FTP use the same network protocol to transfer data (TCP/IP).
FTP regular port is port 21. By default this port is left open by the router built in firewall, and on firewalls installed on Windows. Unless the router or another firewall has been specifically set to block port 21, firewalls will not block FTP on standard settings.
FTP may be not working because of the client used. The regular browsers do not allow full usage as FTP client.
Try first downloading an FTP client like filezilla. Click here to download.
You can also test the network using the computer on a different wi fi, and checking if you have the same problem (HTTP but no FTP) using a different local network.
If the problem is not the FTP client, then please come back to us telling what error you get, and telling us what happens when you connect to the network using a cable.
