I am trying to hook up my ps3 to the internet. It lets me do everything until I get to the end and it says "test internet connection". It tells me It can't obtain my ip address. I think i need to turn off my firewall on my router.

Most likely the problem is that you need to set up your router to be on the same subnet of your modem.
