I am visiting my mother in law. She has a circuit
I am visiting my mother in law. She has a circuit that keeps blowing. It looks like a microwave was grafted in at some time after the house was built and the microwave seems to be the critical link in tripping the breaker. I am not an electrician but I have swapped out breakers many times for one reason or another and I was wondering if this breaker has just gone bad. It is a 15 AMP Bryant. The house was built in the 60s. She recently had the heat pump replaced and the installer had to replace a bad 40 AMP breaker for that. Could it just be a bad breaker?

What else is on circuit with microwave and as to grafted is that a hard wired hook up if so breaker may be to low depending on how old the unit is but before replacing it i would check microwave draw and find out if anything else is on circuit
the microwave is probably drawing to much power and with the other things and lights on is blowing circuit-if wiring is up to code u can try upping the breaker to 20 amp from the 15 amp or need to plug other things somewhere else or add a circuit and put microwave and maybe another outlet on and the other --lights and outlets on it --or if micro is old and is pulling a lot of power upgrade to a newer one that will probably use half of the old one -
