So long as you have a valid, REGISTERED copy of QBPRO, this should be no problem... You'll need the phone number and ZIP code of the person or entity under which you entered the registration.
Install QB Pro 2008 on the new laptop, register it (you'll need an internet connection) and go ahead and click on help...update quickbooks and let it do it's thing.
Then (If you're using an XP machine...) COPY your intuit directory (usually located at C:\documents and settings\all users\shared doctuments\intuit) over to the new machine in the shared documents folder.
After you have copied the data, open QB Pro and choose "open an existing company", then navigate to where you placed your intuit files and open the company in question.
