I bought a PDT 6846 Barcode Scanner. I've loaded the driver and hex images provided by a company called Wavelink. They've fully tested this software on the same model and it works fine. When I load my scanner, it connects to the server and access points without a problem, so the radio is working, but when the scan driver loads, or when the scanner requires input... the laser just flashes non-stop and the led flashes orange. Any ideas? I can't find any support with this issue

HI, As you have tested another bar coder scanner and it works fine . The most probable cause of the failure is the 6846 at hand. You can take help from the following people who would send an onsite tech to resolve the issue. If the equipment is defective the best option would be to replace it.
Hi please uninstall the drivers for you Barcode scanner and reinstall reinstall them again. Also make sure it is the right drivers because if the wrong drivers is install the Barcode scanner will malfunction. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you

First of all please disconnect the unit from the network and check the battery, this error (red/orange led flashing) indicates battery and system error. Make sure the batteries are fully charged, if necessary recharge them. (it's only my opinion, i am only sharing it to you if this maybe helpful, if you've done this before, please ignore.) Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.
Https://docs.symbol.com/manuals/3264502a.pdf I have seen this problem before, and it is either the laser itself, the electronic, driver to the laser, or the software driver itself. You can try resetting it and reloading again, and see if it is just a "Glitch" but.I fear I am correct, and it will be the laser assembly, being faulty. Also ensure your Batteries are new..
When it gets to the PDF driver loading screen, it does say just afterwards "Unknown Speed". Does that have anything to do with it?When it gets to the PDF driver loading screen, it does say just afterwards "Unknown Speed". Does that have anything to do with it?
Well u need to program and caliberate it.. Look at your manual you will see some bar codes and instructions on how to program it.. Make sure the codes you are using are the type you program the machine to read.. Once caliberated you will need to set it up to the machine usually the opos software provided by the manufacturer..
Hi this actually sounds like the software may be corrupt, have you tried re-installing the software or re-setting the scanner and trying again? this normally cures things like that, check that any updates that have also been installed with the software is actually compatible with yours as some software updates are only betas and not fully tested....hope this helps
this might be a complete off the wall suggestion...how is the battery? is it fully charged? and working correctly? try removing battery and putting it back on again, did you reset it?this might be a complete off the wall suggestion...how is the battery? is it fully charged? and working correctly? try removing battery and putting it back on again, did you reset it?
Use Self Test to check whether system hardware is operational command mode includes a Self Test function which verifies that terminal hardware components are operating properly. Components tested include real-time clock (RTC) battery power, keyboard codes ,liquid crystal display (LCD) controller
read-only memory (ROM), random-access memory (RAM), expanded memory (EMS), and non-volatile memory (NVM) run Self Test if you suspect a problem with the hardware. Except for keyboard testing, no operator input is necessary after selecting a test screen.

Hi. Your description was very clear. From what I understood it looks like the unit is failing to load the software. Follow the troubleshooting below
Ensure that the red light is not just telling about a failed scan, te light will turn green after a valid bar code is recognised and scanned.
Ensure that the battery is fully charged and ensure that you followed operations in order below:
Double check that the unit keeps communicating with the computer.
Try resetting the unit. Disconnect cradle power cord, computer target="_blank">Here the full manual.
If all that does not work, call the software company and perform download again. If still no luck, then unit is likely faulty, call the PDT local service listed on the manual above.
First ensure you perform procedures suggested above.
It would appear that fixya has a monopoly on the service of these particular scanners after searching for sometime on error reports all I cam up with were fixya posts and solution im including a link which sounds to be the same problem and hopefully it can give you more clarity on the topic than I can offer
Nope, no message. It begins this behavior when it gets to this screen:
0:NB2DSSIA 1.09 PDF Driver Loaded CRC Checksum: 0X3FE7 New INTB6 Installed
I assume this is where it loads the scan driver. I tried 1-D and 2-D drivers. I've also tried this on 4 different scanners, all model number PDT 6846.Nope, no message. It begins this behavior when it gets to this screen:
