I brought my computer last year and in november 2010 i having problem keeping it charge i put it the shop and now it cost 199 to get it fix when i plug it up it pops on me and wouldnot charge

This laptop should still be under manufacturers warranty! It's under a year old. Gateway is suppose to fix it for free unless it was abused.
Make sure the terminals are clean and connecting with the battery. Is the battery new?
