I cant turn off my light meter om my v3800n 35mm camera without taking the batteries out. Is there a way to turn the meter off? Or do I have to take the batteries out every time?

Hello...there is most probably a defective switch on the camera...If you are facing the front of the camera, on the camera body, to the right if the lens is the meter button.(near the flash pc socket) Also, you can check the condition of the batteries by pressing the shutter button half way down. If you see a red or green light, the batteries are good. If not, replace them *both* with silver oxide.
Need to clarify--the shutter button is the metering button--pushing and holding it half way turns on the meter, then you make f-stop or shutter speed adjustments as needed. Check the button for anything spilled in or around it, freedom of travel, etc. If the switch inside *is* damaged, you will have to have the cam repaired by a tech facility.
