I had the same problem with the 2400 model, because the filller cap is a safety cap it thought there was pressure in the tank so wouldnt unscrew just kept going round and round. It had a little water it it. I switched it on heated it up then switched it off and let it cool a bit. There was a small metal bolt on the underside of the tank which I could unscrew with a alan key. This let the pressure out, I then rinsed it out with cold water and hey presto the safety value released itself. hope this helps
Had the same problem with my old 2400 - saved 100pounds by finding this forum. Thank goodness for the internet. I'd rung the Polti official repair man to say the top was stuck, & local people said they couldn't do anything. He quoted me 109pounds... I found the reply above, I got a big alan key and unscrewed the underneath round metal stopper, as described - it was full of gunk. But it hissed, which meant a tiny bit of water had been in there for about a year, creating just enough pressure to stop the top opening. So it opened now. I Viakaled the stopper and the screw thread at the head and poured lots of water through the tank, letting it run out through bottom valve. Had to keep poking the hole as it got so blocked up with limescale furry bits. Then limescaled with Kilrock. Have saved about 100pounds on that repair. Sharing this with many thanks.
