Creating a password should be one of the first things you should do when you are setting up your computer for the first time. If you need help to find out how to do it then the following steps will assist you. Step 1 Begin by selecting Start - Control Panel - User Accounts and Family. In the window you will see the Change Your Windows password option. Click on the link. Select the account that you will be assigning a password to. The Create a Password For Your Account link will appear Click this link. Step 2 Input the password you have chosen, confirm the password. To help you remember input a password hint. This will be visible to everyone who uses the computer. Step 3 When you have typed in your password hint you can then hit the 'Create Password' button. This button will appear as 'Change Password' if you already have set up a previously. Step 4 After pressing the 'Create Password' button the 'Make Changes to Your User Account' window will reappear. You will notice that in this window you have the option to remove your password if you want. To do this all you have to do is click in the Remove Your Password command. Step 5 Finally, click on the close button and that is your Windows password set up. You can also setup additional user accounts if you wish. Follow these steps to do it. Step 1 Ensure your administer privileges enable you to do this. Click on Start then Control Panel. Step 2 In the Control Panel box you should see the button to add or remove the user accounts. Click the button. Step 3 The Manage Accounts window will appear and in this window you will see a link to create a new account. Click on this link. Step 4 The Manage Accounts window will appear. Enter your account names and choose the sort of account that you wish to set up. You have 2 options as follows: • Standard user: this basically means you do not have the same privileges as the administrator. • Administrator: this level allows you to create accounts and install software. It is advisable that only one individual should be assigned as the administrator. Step 5 When you have decided on the account you want then press the Create button and close the Control Panel window. or if its for a router there are to many router brands for me to post indidually each one will be different to set up a password I suggest you make copies of all passwords as word documents and be kept on a separate device from your computer and note pad incase of memory lapses. this will take a bit longer to access your computer because of the log in process Hope this helps.
