I dropped my fantom 500GB external hard drive (#TBD500C16). Now it no longer is visible on MyComputer... It makes some humming noises for a minute or so,,, then becomes silent. Is there anyway to recover the data on it?

The hard drive is faulty and we mortals cannot retrieve data from a faulty hard drive.
There are companies that can retrieve data from a faulty hard drive BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.
If future with these external hard drives, it pays to have a second one so you can back up your data on the second hard drive in case the first hard drive becomes faulty.
