I first broke the screen on this laptop i changed it but shorted out the invertor at this point the laptop switched on fine with a dark screen after replacing the invertor with a new one it no longer turns on with or without the new invertor

You should have checked the power voltage rating before using another power cable.
The computer memory or processor must have gone bad.
Check the power rating before connecting another inverter.
Accept the ebay refund and take the laptop for a check.
