I get the error message "The application preference file
Is damaged. Please remove it and relaunch QuarkXpress [296].
I tried that and I continue to still get the error message. Can you provide any help on how to get the application to open for me?? Thanks in advance.

In case of a Windows machine Navigate to C Drive>>Program files>>QuarkXPress folder and create a new folder by the name Preferences with P in upper case.
For Mac HDD>>Applications>>QuarkXPress folder and create a new folder by the name Preferences with P in upper case.
Now launch QuarkXPress and it should work
