To unrap the cord from this vacuum you will have to do the following: First turn the vacuum upside down and place head on counter and handle on the floor. You will have remove the base plate. There are 3 screws that hold it in place. Since cord is wrapped around the brush roller you will not be able to take it all the way off, but it will give you access to the brush roller. If the belt is still on the brush roller, I suggest you cut it, so you can lift the brush roller out of the base and that will make untangeling the cord easy.
