Turn engine clockwise by hand to #1 TDC then turn anti-clockwise 90 degrees apply tension and lock the tensioner. Turn the engine a further 2 full turns clockwise and recheck. If it sounds ok start the motor and allow to idle listen for chain noise. This procedure should only be carried out by experienced technicians if you are not sure find someone who is getting this wrong will cause major damage.
