I have a 190c installed on my Mako 18LTS and was having problems with transducer placement - finally found a "good" spot to locate it and mounted it - it worked great for about 15 minutes then the screen went white and the temperature displayed but no bottom structure or depth. Pulled the boat and found the transducer had "kicked up" - reset it and launched the boat - disconnected the 190c from power and reset the machine - pulled the transducer plug and reinserted it - nothing. It still only displays the white screen and temperature. What are the probable causes? I checked the entire length of transducer cable - all good - connection is clean - tranducer is in good condition and it appears nothing else is wrong but still nothing. Considering the cost of a new transducer I don't want to experiment by spending money

According to your problem, first make sure that you have mounted the Transducer inside the Hull or Transom.Check the transducer cable. Set the video resolution. Master reset may require for the Fishfinder.
Hi, well a faulty transducer will NOT cause that symptom you describe. A FF, will work, WITHOUT a transducer attached, usually. It just will not display anything meaningful. Usually, even without a transducer, one can still look at and scroll through the program's features etc & adjust settings, if this isn't possible, then most often this is because it is internally faulty.
Most likely what has happened is the unit has developed a fault, perhaps it was "Glitched"or "Spiked"? this in turn has caused a failure, in the power supply by what you describe. Sometimes connecting/disconnecting without powering down, can "Spike" or cause a power "Surge" this will/can damage the device.
In my experience transducers are pretty hardy devices, and seldom "Fail" spontaneously, unless, old, or external forces are bought to bear, such as if it was struck by something? or perhaps reverse polarity? but as related, they are quite hardy.
As related the most likely thing is going to be the unit's power supply, and/or the "Rail" to the screen.
A transducer can be tested with a Multi-meter set to OHMS, there should be a very high resistance reading as the crystal is measured... basically anything other than an open, or short circuit is OK..however the transducer may indeed have an exact reading to be measured, to obtain this value, one must get the specifications of that, or a similar transducer, and use that data, to compare.
