I have a 1986 ford ranger 4x4 with a 2.9l and auto transmission. It is very hard to start. When it does finally start it idles high. What could be the problem?

If the idle remains high after the engine is warm, then you have a vacuum leak. Check all of the rubber hoses coming from the intake after the throttle body.
