I have a 1998 Eclipse RS Non-turbo 2.0L, I am trying to remove the transmission and to do so i need to remove the half-shafts. The problem is that the nuts that hold the half-shaft to the rotor are rusted on and they are impossible to remove, Even with a braker bar. There are no Cotter pins in the nuts, because i looked to see if it was preventing the nut from being removed. Is there a special way to remove these nuts and i am just not doing it right or is there a way to remove the half-shafts from the transmission without taking it out of the rotor? And if they are stuck on, is there a recommended way of removing the nuts without damaging the Half-shafts?
You can pull the shafs from the tranny and live them in the rotors is my way to do it how ever if you prefer to remove them spry plenty of penetrating oil ,have someone to aply brake an use the cheater bar there are some heavy 3/4 braker bars that are safer than 1/2 eiter way atach a big pipe to it and that's what we call the cheater bar

Because there are no cotter pins, they were most probab;y fitted and fixed with Loctite or similar.
Try applying a bit of heat to the nutwhile you have pressure on the nutm with your spanner.\
Another thing have you considered that they may have left hand thread.
