I have a 2000 mercury cougar that the engine will start racing when i press the clutch in. I have already replace the IAC sensor and disconnected the batter for more than 10 mins. I am lost to what can be causing this problem....can someone help me

The throttle postioning sensor/ map sensor will also do the same thing.... don't know without seeing it do it... hope this helps
