Hey Steve, Does it overheat when you drive at highway speed? If not, and only overheats during stop and go driving, then you might have: 1. A water pump going bad. 2. A thermostat that is going bad, 3. The radiator hoses are getting soft,,(Need replacing) I would start by removing the thermostat and driving for a while and see if it clears up.. (this DOES NOT eliminate the water pump though, because its easier to pump coolant without a restriction), but this will help you with your diagnosis, If it stops overheating without the thermostat,, ok, now replace the thermostat (with a new one!) and drive again.. IF it starts over heating again, you need a water pump. ,,ALSO..while hot.. check the hoses for evidence of collapsing..replace if necessary..(they wear out from the inside.. there will be NO signs of wear from the outside! (I replace mine every 6 years NO MATTER!!!)
