I have a 2002 Escalade and the Headlamp adjusters are wore out. I'm trying to find what I need to buy to replace them. Does anyone have a diagram or model numbers of what I need?
1. Pry loose the eight radiator fastener plugs and pull them out of their holes. Place the plugs in a small bag for safekeeping during the repair. 2. Lift the radiator cover away from the vehicle. Then, pull either the top left or top right corner of the grille away from the vehicle to create enough room to remove the headlamp assembly 3. Locate the horizontal headlamp assembly pin. Pull the end of the pin up and then toward the center of the vehicle to remove it. 4. Find the vertical headlamp assembly pin. Turn its end away from you until it clicks and then pull it upward. 5. Remove the headlamp assembly, detach its electrical connector. This will give you a better look at the Headlight Adjusters, 90% of the time it's just seized up with corrosion and dirt. A good cleaning with Brake Parts cleaner and a good spray of Lubrication will get your adjusters working 100% again. Most Auto Parts store will have the replacement parts needed if the adjustment screws are to corroded or any parts are broken. How to adjust the headlight. Park your Cadillac Escalade 15 to 25 feet from a wall or garage door. A close background helps you see the trajectory of each headlight. You can also wait until dark or turn out the garage lights to increase visibility. Make sure all four tires are level; if your Cadillac Escalade isn't level, you won't be able to adjust the headlights properly. 1. Locate the headlight adjustment screws. You should find these near the headlamps. The Torx screws look like a star. 2. Turn the adjustment screws with an E8 Torx socket or a Torx T15 screwdriver. Adjust the horizontal aiming screw on the left until the indicator on the right lines up with the zero. 3. Determine whether you need to adjust the vertical level for the headlight. Continually check the trajectory path on the wall as you make adjustments. Keep in mind the headlights should point slightly down to fulfill local laws or regulations on the trajectory path. Good luck and thank you for using Fixya.
The Steps and Schematics would be easily Described in the Service Manual. Usually this Service Manual would cost you around $50 on Haynes site, you could get it for $3.99 from :-
