OK two separate issues. 1) stalling is a toughy however starting simple is best. The in line fuel filter is often the culprit in this situation. Often over looked but very fundamental to operation. Change it and see if that helps. I would also suggest after you change filter not before run sea foam in your gas. It is an ounce per gallon but can heal many wounds of an older vehicle. Unclogs injectors cleans moisture out. I would start there. Your gauge not working could be simply a fuse your owners manual can help with which one it might be. After that is checked it can be a bad sending unit on the tank and even a bad ground connection on the battery or frame ground. Hope this gets you going.
