I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 that will not start, when I put the key in the ignition it reads that the truck is in 2nd gear, however the gear is in park. I tried replacing the starter and that didn't work and I tried getting a jump and that doesn't work either

The gear select switch,is bad,or the linkage to the transmission has moved.
Try to start it in neutral if this does not work try starting it while pulling the shifter slowly down through all gears
