I have a 2004 bmw x5, that the 2 rear doors wont open from the inside or the outside after replacing the door handles
We replaced all 4 door handles on the vehicle. The front went just fine and open and close like new again. The rear doors on the other hand went together just fine but once we tried closing them to try out the new handles they wouldn't open. We removed the door latches for more room to get the door handles out. Would removing the latches cause them to not unlatch afterwards? Has anyone experienced this at all or does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I've got both rear door panels back off and have tried actuating the latching mechanisms manually but still the doors wont open. Any thoughts? Thanks Joe

I am not familiar with this model but have experienced a similar nightmare on a very model. I suspect that the child safety locks are set which is stopping you opening the doors from the inside and the outside handles are not working because the latches may have been set in the locked position.
