I have a 2004 Lexus RX330 and the HID lamp on the driver side doesn't work and replacements won't either so my repair shop is telling me it's a ballast issue and it will cost $1000 to replace. Does this sound reasonable?
Hello, at first look that price seems high. If you have the "adaptive lighting" option, the module alone is a $500.00 part. If the shop is also replacing bulbs again, with labor, the total repair can quickly reach the estimated price they gave you. There are cheaper lighting systems for your car, but if you want to keep the original factory lighting, this is probably a reasonable estimate.
Hello again. I saw that ballast on ebay also. I also found some other aftermarket ballasts at around that price. The reason I did not suggest that route, is I am not entirely sure it is compatible with your particular system. I would suggest before you buy the part from ebay, you print it out and go to the repair shop and ask if it will work on your vehicle.
