I have a 2004 mini cooper s. We replaced the front brakes AND a new sensor is installed. Have tried several of the proposed remedies on the interweb but nothing has worked so far. Besides that the remedy link on here seems to be for a newer mini because I don't have a "start key, nor do I have the extra buttons on the dash

Is it the worn brake indicator you are seeing? If it is in the Tach and says Brake, it could be indicating low brake fluid or some other failure. If it is in the speedometer and is the circle with four dashes around it, the sensor could be bad, or was accidentally tripped some how. It depends on which indicator you see.
