I Have A 2004 Pontiac Gto 5.7 And The Trunk Activates By Itself I Hear It Opening Is There A Short Or A Bad Fuse I Don't Noe What To Do Especially After I Lock And Unlock The Car It Does It Five Times Or More and When I'm Driving Help!!!!
I am not trying to be funny, but does your key or buttons on your key fob get bumped or rattle around while driving? I would check these remote buttons (do they operate smoothly or do they stick?) before considering a possible short in the trunk lock actuator or a bad relay somewhere in the car's electrical system.
Well you could unplug the actuator so it does not do it as a temp fix until you figure which is causing it . yes it could be a short but it also could be your remote controller is bad and that button contacts .if you have more then one remote try using the second one and going for a drive and see if it still does it .Now if you dont have a second remote try to see if you can pull the battery on the remote and then drive .
if the actuator is disconnected it did stop it from opening correct? the problem should have stopped if it is still popping open let us know .This will help people aid you if finding the source of the problem better . It could be a bad relay but relays dont normally go on and off 5 times in a row and just stop .if the actuator is disconnected it did stop it from opening correct? the problem should have stopped if it is still popping open let us know .This will help people aid you if finding the source of the problem better . I would check/replace the trunk switch first.
