I have a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 with approximately 3200 mi (I just purchased it). The problem I discovered is a noise coming from my rear transaxle or axle. The noise does not occur all the time. It is intermittent. Any insight would be greatly appreciated
It sounds like an internal problem with the differential you will have to put it on a rack and have a tech look at it. normally if it is a u joint there will be a metalic sound when your sittin still and you shift from reverse to drive. also check the fluid level and smell if it is burnt or not.
This type of noise is very hard to diag from a key board, but this sounds like a bad universal joint, another noise like this is a broken tooth on the ring or pinion gear in the differental, once it is up on a rack a tech will quickly isolate it.
