I have a 2005 Honda Crv- The problem I am having is the car is starting to get hot. It does not reach the danger zone but it does go from the bottom of the thermostat to the top of the thermostat picture. I have to crank the heat to get it to lower back to normal. I have checked the cooling fan. It will not come on unless you run the air conditioner. When the air is on the cooling fand and the condenser fan do run. I have replaced the relay with no luck. I was thinking it might be the fan switch but even with the fan on it does not cool down the engine. Could this be a thermostat issue? The fan, radiator, fan motor, extra reserve for the coolant and the coolant are not more than 3 years old.l
Why not just state the symptoms>? ????? poor engine heat?, poor cab heat?, bad A/C?. bad distribution of heat to all zones.?? what? im not getting "starting to get hot" or thermostat picture" picture? my guess, is this topic is HVAC, heat the cab issues , not AC? issue? Poor heat. this car gets its CAB heat from the ENGINE coolant. ( are you in recirc. mode or fresh air, if fresh air is mixed it will not be has hot !! , ever.) so the first step is to find out of the coolant attains and holds at 180F or more. does it? i have calibrated right hand that touches the top rad hose and if hand flies s off (ouch) its just right, (or out comes my IR Pyro gun and?) the latter, ends the wild guessing, and human vague issues.... facts. using the engine overheat gauge is not do good, its really is not instrument grade. and does lie. (its crude) but I do know mine. and how far off it is. .so in my case it works for me. but not others. see me doing the Pyro gun test now , dead accurate too. http://www.fixkick.com/Cooling-engine/rad-top.jpg
see all ways to get frigid. (cab or engine) http://www.fixkick.com/Cooling-engine/Frigid-motor-cab.html
here is the macro list for low or no cab heat. 1: engine not hot. use IR gun. 2: cab fan dead, or weak, fix that. first. (high usually always works) 3: dampers stuck or bad damper cables or in your case motors. 4: leaves are packing the heater core.. or path. 5: hot water is hot but not flowing through the core, 6: bad distribution, dampers stuck. etc.
is this an engine over heat issue> car is starting to get hot. to = too? what is car. the engine or the cab?
Definately sounds like a "hung" thermostat , also while you are changing your fluid ,you should purchase an antifreeze tester(cheap) and make sure your antifreeze is correct
