The stepper motors are notorious for having fault in 2004-2009 models. Sometimes you can just turn the key as if cranking and switch it right off and it will allow the needle to drop back..do this several times and it should reset it back to "0". You can find the stepper motor kits on ebay faily cheap and a video on Youtube on how to repair them.
