I have a Alpine CDA-9884 car stereo equipped with XM. It has worked perfect for the last two years. Today, it lost its XM capability. It no longer has XM when I press the source button. Started when I cranked it up and it indicated it was searching for the signal for an long period of time. I then powered it off and hit the setup button. After that, XM was lost as a source. Any ideas what I should try?

The XM box connected to your radio can get confused and need a reset. Happens every few months or so. Normally this box is powered all the time. The reset can be accomplished by power-cycling the box while the radio/ignition are off. I suppose you could make this happen by temporarily disconnecting the battery. After I took mine back to the dealer for a (free) reset a couple of times, I had them install a switch under the dash that lets me do it readily. Works fine. Now if I could get the radio to stop switching back to Channel 1 half of the times I start the car . . .
XM is provided free at acquiring the systems expexted to remain fucntional for a year until user subscribes to sustain the experience thereafter. Contact the installation technical facility also to ascertain that anyy malfunctions may not have occured with device before attempting to re subscribe to xm radio. Once confirmed regular ssytem funcionalities, additional features are availbel for upgrades for user experiences.
