I have a bathtub drain that has not worked since we moved in. three plumbers said they can't locate the ''lever'' or hook within the drain pipe like they usually do to fix it. apparently have to go into the plaster behing the tub plumbing to reach whatever they need to do. Can I do this myself? I believe it was a pop up but the normal way to fix this is not happening

If it was a pop up u will see a threaded end in the middle of the drain where the pop up would go if their is one buy a replacement if not and u want a lever replacement and their is no up tube [where lever /overfill drain]will have to install a new drain system which means access to under tub and front of tub to hook up
yep home depot ,lowes etc you can get the tub drain kits from plastic to brass different types of finish to face cover [2]- depends on whats hooked up the whole kit is not that expensive -[3] also depends on what has to be hooked up and what has to be moved or removed to gain access to tub can be as quick as 1 hr to all day if ur handy can be a diy project go to this site and will show u what and how to do it www.ehow.com/video_5116749_replace-bathtub-drain-stopper.html yep home depot ,lowes etc you can get the tub drain kits from plastic to brass different types of finish to face cover [2]- depends on whats hooked up the whole kit is not that expensive -[3] also depends on what has to be hooked up and what has to be moved or removed to gain access to tub can be as quick as 1 hr to all day if ur handy can be a diy project go to this site and will show u what and how to do it www.ehow.com/video_5116749_replace-bathtub-drain-stopper.html
