I have a black and a white wire coming out of existing wall light switch and the intramatic programmable timer has a black, white, red and the ground wires. I know where the ground, black and the white goes, but where do I connect the red wire? I connected the red with the white, It didn't work, I did it with the black and it still didn't work, I left it unconnected and it still didn't work. I use to have an Intramatic timer with just the white and black and didn't have a problem with it, I am having a problem with this one. can somebody exlpain or help

EJ500 has red wire for 3-way wiring only.
Since your switch has two wires, the timer red wire is capped off and not used.
Connect timer wires to either switch wire. Turn power ON. If timer does not function, reverse the two wires (keep red wire capped)
EJ500 is for incandescent lights only located within 100 feet of timer, the timer has 2 replaceable LR44 batteries that last about 3 years. and timer comes with1 year limited warranty
